MARK & MONICA
Mark Harris and Monica Foley are a Los Angeles-based wife-and-husband writing, producing, and filmmaking team who mine the extraordinary from real life. Drawing from vastly different lived experiences and sensibilities, their work is defined by relatable heroes, high-concept premises, and big emotional stakes, delivered with inventive style and a sharp point of view. Their work is rooted in Hollywood’s best storytelling traditions – elevated, broadly entertaining, often epic in scope, but always grounded in character. Specializing in finding the untold stories that deserve to be told, Mark and Monica are particularly skilled at developing true stories into resonant, emotionally driven narratives with heart, grit, and unexpected twists. They primarily develop feature dramas with a demonstrated range across genres, and their process – from beat board to first draft to finished film – is prolific by design and collaborative by nature. Their work has earned recognition from Film Independent, the Nicholl Fellowship, ScreenCraft, Coverfly’s Red List, and numerous other prestigious institutions.
MARK HARRIS
Raised between Los Angeles and Hawai’i and shaped by a richly diverse upbringing, Mark holds an MFA in Film Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where his thesis film traveled to over forty international film festivals and earned numerous awards. He established his industry standing in unscripted television – holding an overall deal at Lionsgate, and creating projects with Kevin Hart, Elizabeth Banks, Rebel Wilson, and Michael Strahan, among others – earning a Producers Guild Award nomination and a Realscreen Award along the way. His scripted work occupies different terrain: character-driven, urgent, and psychologically complex, following ordinary people through extraordinary circumstances and delivering them, hard-won, to hope and redemption. His work has earned recognition across leading industry programs, including the Film Independent Project Involve Fellowship, the Nicholl Fellowship, and the Disney and NBC Writing Programs.
MONICA FOLEY
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Monica holds a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from Swinburne University and has called Los Angeles home since 2017. Her writing is distinguished by a sense of magic, wonder, and emotional escapism – a belief that the best stories, regardless of genre, never lose sight of the imagination. She has earned more than twenty screenwriting accolades, with recognition from ScreenCraft, the Austin Film Festival, Big Break, and Coverfly’s Red List, among others. When she isn’t developing her next scripted project, she’s most likely working on an art project – and counting down to her favourite holiday, Halloween.
