MARK HARRIS

Raised between Los Angeles and Hawai’i, Mark is a writer/producer and a prolific creative.  Coming from a tremendously diverse family, Mark’s creative work is informed by a unique range of his lived experiences.  After receiving his MFA in Film Production from USC, Mark’s thesis film traveled to over forty film festivals around the globe and garnered numerous awards.

First finding his professional foothold in the unscripted realm, Mark was given an overall deal at Lionsgate where he created “Kicking & Screaming”, a big adventure format for Fox, and Kevin Hart’s hit show “What the Fit” for YouTube, which is the platform’s highest rated and most viewed original series.

Despite his success in unscripted, however, Mark’s greatest gifts as a storyteller live in the scripted arena.

Drawn to exploring the darker portions of the human experience and psyche, Mark’s protagonists are typically ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances, and his narratives are propelled by a palpable sense of urgency.

Mark’s diverse lived experience provides inspiration and informs his primary characters – a diverse bunch who are all pushed to the extremes in one way or another. A hallmark of Mark’s writing is that their journeys, while challenging, always deliver his protagonists to a place of hope and redemption.

Expert at attaching and working with talent, Mark has developed and/or shot with everyone from Kevin Hart, Elizabeth Banks, Rebel Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Jack Black, Jason Sudeikis, and many others.

Mark has been nominated for a Producer’s Guild Award and won a Realscreen Award in the unscripted world. In the narrative realm, he is a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow, a Quarter-finalist in the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, a Finalist in the Storyline Screenwriting Competition, among innumerable other accolades.
